I participated in the “Extra Practice” where we could run on a course that was an exact replica of the 4th round of the JAGE Cup.
It wouldn’t be any fun to just ride it as is, so this time I tried putting BS 601SS tires on the KX112.
At first, I was not used to the KX and it was jerky, but I realized that the fuel mixture was not suitable for the single-digit temperatures.
I increased the main jet size and it became much smoother.
As I got more used to the machine my time steadily improved and I was eventually able to improve it to 1 minute 25.3 seconds.
Considering that the Z650 was 1 minute 29.5 seconds, even if it takes some getting used to, there will be a 5% difference.
We really need to continue to perfect the Z650’s performance.
By the way, after that I rented a Ninja 400 and rode it, and I managed to get a time of 1 minute 28.7 seconds.
It’s a better time than the Z650. (lol)
By the third run on a borrowed bike I was able to get a time in the 28 second range, which reminded me that lightness does translate into better times.
When you try out different machines, you can see that even with the same rider, there is a big difference in the time.
I understand the desire to drive a good machine and improve your performance, and I have done the same.
At the same time, I want Gymkhana to be a place where riders who try their best on their favorite bikes or on unfavorable bikes are given more and more recognition.
I really think so.
Personally, I can’t really accept the situation where lightweight bikes are dominating the SB class, which was specifically established for heavy vehicles.
I hope that this Gymkhana will be a place where riders who work hard on bikes like the ZRX1200, CB1300, XJR1300, and MT01 can be appreciated even more.
