It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while, but as I successfully turned 62 in July, I’ve decided to compete in the second half of 2024’s “Kanto Official Races” on a Z650.
To be honest, once I turned 60, I wanted to enjoy gymkhana in a more challenging way.
For example, maybe I’ll use a different machine for every race? Or maybe I’ll graduate from high grip? I was thinking about a lot of things.
However, by acquiring the KX112 machine and using CST’s CM-SRR tires, he was able to gain the speed to compete for the top spot!
So I worked hard despite my age. That situation continued.
However, in the tournament where Dunlop is the only option, I had to use the TT93GP, which was overwhelmingly lacking in potential, and I was unable to perform at my best.
I was pretty frustrated (laughs).
Since I can’t run fast anyway, I think I’ll start the challenge of my own that I’ve been thinking about since I turned 60.
So why the Z650? Because it is a vehicle that can be used for gymkhana with minimal modifications.
Steering angle, final, etc.
Unlike vehicles that become unracable if modified specifically for gymkhana, this is a machine that is easy to use for both touring and gymkhana.
We have made no improvements to the suspension and have chosen the bare minimum final components, with no weight reduction whatsoever.
And as a test, I will run the first heat in the Q5A. If it’s dry, I will run the second heat in the Q5 or α13SP.
How much of a difference does the difference in tires make? I would like to take a look at that.
Well, I’m still an active gymkhana rider, so I want to achieve some results and find out what my potential is.
I’ll be using high grip tires in the second heat, and in competitions where I can use CST tires I’m thinking of bringing the KX112.
The second half is going to be even more exciting and fun!!
