The Z650 had been tested and updated up until the 4th round of the Dunlop Cup, but I spent two days over the weekend checking it and setting it up further.
This update is
Final change 14-47 → 14-48
Change of steering angle
ABS deactivation and strengthening of brake system
It will be.
I first put the tires on the Q5A to check the general direction.
The course on Saturday was mainly tri-khana, so we had to do some hard braking and banking.
You can check the balance of the vehicle by being able to feel the strong acceleration and the vehicle's limits.
The course is slightly inclined, so it can be difficult to get a good time, but it's good because you can judge the traction ability of the front and rear tires.
Q5A = 28.8 seconds
I then changed to Diablos and was able to reduce my time down to 28.0. "Tommy was also running with me, so he was very helpful in judging my current situation."
I think the machine is now much easier to attack and drive. By shortening the throttle, the freedom to control the car with the accelerator has increased.
It felt like the rear traction came on quickly, making it easier to achieve better cornering.
I was planning to shorten the rear suspension by one turn, but that's all for today. I'll postpone it until the next day for the detox training.
We traveled to Ibaraki to participate in deto training.
Following on from the basic training the day before, today's practice session will allow participants to check their gymkhana potential on a complex course that includes figure eights, slals, slaloms, etc.
The tires are still Diablo, but we've confirmed the difference between Diablo = Q5 = Q5A in the past, so there's no problem.
There wasn't much steering on the course yesterday, so I wonder if the change in steering angle has led to an increase in potential?
I will be checking that area.
There are many A-class athletes here today, so there are many riders I can learn from, which makes me motivated (laughs).
In the morning I tried to push it to its limits in the same condition.
There were two courses, and I was able to achieve third or fourth fastest times on both, which confirmed that I was at a very satisfactory level under these conditions.
However, it is still not stable when making small turns immediately after rotating or turning around.
So in the afternoon, I started driving with the suspension lowered by one revolution. This allowed the rear traction to be gained earlier.
It has become easier to get more banking on the rear tires, making it much easier to attack.
I was able to improve my time by about 1 to 2 seconds in one go, which made me very happy.
The top time ratio is now under 101%, so we are very satisfied at this stage.
I don't have enough time to actually run in a competition, and I still have a lot to learn, so it won't immediately translate to good results.
I am satisfied that I can see that the gap between me and the top group has narrowed considerably at this stage.
Everything went well with this update, and the setup direction went as planned.
I'll be in JAPAN this weekend, and I'll do my best to win.
